Shoe repair Toronto: 10 shops for soles, boots and sneakers
A sneaker sole swap starts at $300, a shine in the PATH is $16, and the cobbler to trust is the one who tells you no.
These 10 Toronto shops fix, clean and resole shoes and boots, sorted by the job you need done. Trust the cobbler who tells you a pair is finished.
In December 2025 the patching and stitching machine at Moneysworth & Best, in a corner of Dufferin Mall, broke down. It was over 50 years old, and a new one cost $10,000. Alazar Beyene, who works that corner ten hours a day, seven days a week, planned to cut keys instead, CP24 reported.
"This (machine) is my right hand," he told CTV News Toronto. His customers had no intention of losing him. A GoFundMe by one of them, Marsha Shandur, reached $15,589, and by April the new machine was in, Streets of Toronto reported.

For a heel or a sole
Beyene's counter, Moneysworth & Best Quality Shoe Care, is down the corridor between Windsor and H&M at Dufferin Mall, 900 Dufferin Street. It still cuts keys. The mall opens 10am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 6pm Sunday.
Novelty Shoe Repair, 119 Yonge Street at Adelaide, dates itself to 1932 and opens 9am to 6pm weekdays, 10am to 4pm Saturday. A heel that is too high can come down 5 to 10 millimetres.
Family run since 1992, Kaner's Handbags & Shoe Repair is on the lower level of 110 Bloor Street West, open 8am to 6pm weekdays and to 5:30pm Saturday. Its about page cites the Toronto Star: a stylist's black Margiela shoes, dyed silver here.
For boots
A Goodyear welt is a strip around the edge of the outsole, with the sole stitched to it. Auguste Destouy had the idea for the machine in 1862, and Daniel Mills improved it from 1869 for Charles Goodyear Jr., Wikipedia says. That stitch lets a boot take new soles while the upper holds.
Nick's Custom Boots, founded in 2000, shares Novelty's street number and hours. Most repairs take 7 to 14 days, with a rush on request.
Red Wing, 21 Rexdale Boulevard, unit 4106, repairs its own boots, with free conditioning, oil and laces for the life of the pair. It opens 9am to 7pm weekdays, 9am to 6pm Saturday and 11am to 5pm Sunday.
For sneakers
Saviour Kicks has cleaned and restored over 15,000 shoes since 2019. A deep clean is $50 and up, unyellowing $20 and up and a sole swap $300 and up. Drop off at 136 Orton Park Road; it prints no hours.

Gibson's Cleaners charges $55 for running shoes, $75 in leather or suede and $120 for couture or limited editions, with free pickup across the GTA and no hours printed. The moose on its roof at 4241 Dundas Street West is named for Joseph Gibson, who founded the firm in 1929. Its FAQ is plain: cleaning cannot fix a sole coming away.
For leather, suede and a tight fit
First Aid for Leather by Sandalman, 1181 Davenport Road at Oakwood Avenue, opens 11am to 6pm Tuesday to Friday, to 5pm Saturday. Cory Bernatt has run it since 1982. The number after the 416, 533 6335, reads the same backwards.
Faded leather usually gets 1 to 4 weeks of oil, then a week of paste. The shop advises against a yearly clean.
Penny Loafers Shoe Shine, in the PATH since 1994, shines at First Canadian Place, the TD Centre and the Fairmont Royal York. A basic shine is $16, boots to the knee $21, suede cleaning $16 and up. It hires mainly from the arts, actors and musicians among them.

Novelty stretches leather up to half a size, and Kaner's lets a boot calf out or in. Bags have their own Toronto handbag repair note.
How to tell if a pair can be resoled
Shandur told CP24 that Beyene once turned her shoes away because the mend would not last. She paid $30 elsewhere, and it broke in a week.
A no from a good cobbler is worth more than a $30 yes.
Start with the build. Fluevog's care guide of September 2025 says a Goodyear welt or a Blake stitch is "usually easily resoled", and a cemented one can be, in skilled hands. It names 2 builds that are not typically resoleable: Strobel and vulcanized.
A pair can last 2 to 3 years before it needs a sole, Fluevog says, and its Queen Street shop will name a cobbler. Regluing a loose sneaker sole at Saviour Kicks is $100 to $250 and up.
When to bring boots in
Repairs take days. At Nick's pace, boots left on 1 November are back by the 15th.
Australian Boot Company, 698 Queen Street West, cleans and conditions Blundstone and R.M.Williams boots free, wherever you bought them. It takes 3 pairs a person, uppers only, in 24 to 72 hours. Call 416 504 2411 first; it opens 10am to 6pm, and to 7pm Thursday and Friday.
Salt leaves suede rough, says Saviour Kicks, which takes it out and restores the nap. Gibson's lists desalting, and Kaner's winterization for boots.
Back at Dufferin Mall, the money raised past Beyene's goal goes to the Maquila Solidarity Network, which backs the workers who make clothes and shoes.
